Introduction

26 December 2004 witnessed one of the worst natural disasters of recorded memory. An undersea earthquake in the Indian Ocean near Aceh, West Sumatra caused massive tsunami waves to hit parts of Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Myanmar and as far away as Somalia. Untold thousands lost their lives--exactly how many we will probably never know. The survivors face the lost of home, property and livelihood. (See Wikipedia entry)

Within a matter of days, people from around the world sprang to action. Governments sent much needed assistance while private individuals and groups donated time, strength and money.

This blog is dedicated to the men and women from a very small country in the region--Singapore--who did their bit to render assistance.
