Land access from Medan to Meulaboh now open (UPDATED)

Conditions in Meulaboh continue to improve. Land access from Medan to Meulaboh is now open with the completion of road repairs and the construction of bridges by the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) and other Indonesian government agencies.
The same report also says that the SAF's Super Pumas in Thailand have returned to Singapore. Looks like operations may be winding down in Phuket. The press release of the previous day says that the demand for helicopter resupply sorties in Southern Thailand has decreased as more relief supplies are now available in the area.

According to previous reports (this one, for instance) the Singapore Armed Forces planned to construct a permanent jetty at Meulaboh, Aceh to facilitate greater movement of supplies and equipment. The Humanitarian Task Force commander said that this is necessary due to the fact that the road network is badly damaged and repair work will take very long, and the pier will be crucial to the SAF's effort to make the area a relief hub. I wonder what has come of that...
